Brief Job Description:

 ADI and ADEu is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, customer focused individual with strong communication, organizational skills to fill the role of ADEu Development Coordinator. This position focuses on supporting the ADEu members, candidate programs and regional issues. ADEu estimates this is a part-time work from home independent contractor position to support the ADEu members and candidate programs.

Position Title: Assistance Dogs Europe (ADEu) Development Coordinator

Position Type: Independent Contractor

Reports to: Executive Director

Key relationships: ADEu Board of Directors

Location: Based in Europe

Travel Required: Less than 5%

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the ADEu Board and members to ensure that the needs of the members and the clients with assistance dogs are understood by policy makers, service provides (business) and members of the public.

• Support the development of current ADEu candidate programs to obtain accreditation status.

• Support the development of potential new ADEu candidate programs.

 

KEY TASKS

Member Services

• Act as the key point of contact for all ADEu Members and Candidates.

• Ensure members are kept informed of the work and wider relevant issues that could affect the operations of our members.

• Facilitate work groups of the ADEu members on specific issues.

• Organize ADEu member events such as workshops, conferences, etc. as agreed by the board.

• Work on specific campaigns/issues identified by ADEu members and the Board.

• Respond and address all inquiries that come to ADEu.

• Encourage networking amongst members – ensuring that best practices are shared where possible.

• Encourage the creation of joint initiatives that bring programs together to share knowledge and expertise such as breeding co-op, competencies, standards.

• Create and maintain a database of public access related issues.

 

ADEu Candidate Programs

• Work with ADEu candidate programs and support them to meet the required standards and accreditation process. This includes providing direct support or referrals to other ADI accredited members who can provide mentor support.

 

 

• Assist the Executive Director with the ADEu Candidate application process including the ADEu Candidate Review Committee.

• Update ADI website and Salesforce with new ADEu Candidate programs.

• Implement ADI mentoring program once it is developed.

• Assist with the development of webinars and virtual educational workshops.

 

General Public

• Keep information on the ADEu webpage current.

• Reply to all email and internet inquiries in a timely manner.

 

ADEu Board Support

• Attend ADEu Regional Board meetings and take minutes.

• Support all ADEu Regional Committees formed by the ADEu Board.

• Support the CEN Technical Committee 452.

• Support European Breeding Cooperative projects.

 

ADI Operations Support

• Assist the Executive Director to ensure that ADEu membership information is updated and correct.

• Assist the Executive Director to provide consistent messaging with members and candidate programs.

• Attend preliminary accreditation teleconference meetings for ADEu candidates and members.

• Assist Executive Director and Accreditation Coordinator as needed.

• Recruit Accreditation Assessors as needed.

• Attend Accreditation Review Committee meetings.

• Attend ADI Board meetings.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

• English is the official language with ADI/ADEu. A very good command of English (both written and spoken) is required. The command of other European languages is a plus.

• Core understanding of how assistance dog organizations operate.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Strong administrative/management knowledge and skills working with a nonprofit board.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Ability to network effectively.

• Strong problem solving skills.

• Must have strong, accurate communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Must be able to successfully work with multiple projects and programs simultaneously.

• Experience and competence in working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Salesforce, Zoom and/or other general office support software.

 

 

• Ability to work in Google platforms (Gmail, calendar, Docs, Drive).

• Willingness to travel occasionally.

 

Desired Experience/Skills

• Knowledgeable about ADI standards and accreditation process.

• Knowledgeable about assistance dog training philosophies, techniques, and acceptable levels of performance.

• Preferred experience working as part of an accredited ADI program.

 

Additional Notes

ADI and ADEu are virtual organizations with no central physical office locations. This contract position must have the flexibility to adjust specific hours as needed to accommodate the needs of an international organization working across multiple time zones. Domestic or international travel to annual board meeting and conference will be required.
