GDMI - Chile

FUNDALURP is a Chilean foundation which has provided services for the rehabilitation of blind and visual impaired people for 10 years with more than 3000 interventions every year.  In the first part of 2018 we launched a new program “Guide Dogs Chile” as a key part of FUNDALURP. Our goal is to give opportunities to blind people who wish to enhance their quality of life by acquiring a guide dog.

We are weeks away from graduating our first teams and we have 15 dogs ready to begin their formal training as guide dogs as well as  20 dogs in different stages of the puppy raising program.

The need in our country is growing fast and we need to add people to our team, so we are looking for a GDMI- Educator who can teach to the first Chilean guide dog trainers and also train guide dogs.


Some of the GDMI’s job responsibilities will be:

- Guide Dog Training:  Professionally train dogs in accordance with IGDF standards.

- Apprentice Training.

- Regularly select Guide Dog clients.

- Matching ensuring that client needs.

- Guide Dog Team: plan, organize and deliver practical and theoretical training to clients.

- Support Services to the clients.


Successful Applications will be expected to have the following:

- GDMI qualification recognized under the International Guide Dog Federation.

- Minimum of 5 years experience as a GDMI

- Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills.

- Strong teaching skills.

- Able to work as part of a team.

- A valid driver’s license.

- Speaking Spanish is seen an asset however not essential.


This job is a permanent, full time, hours of work 8:00 am – 05:00 pm.
