We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a qualified Puppy Raising Advisor, working within our Dog Services team, to contribute to the Guide Dog and Autism Assistance Dog Development programs.

About the role

As a Puppy Raising Advisor, you will assist in the recruitment, and be responsible for the development, education and ongoing support, of our puppy raising volunteers. You will assess development, and assist in monitoring the temperament and health of pups and dogs on the program. 

This challenging but rewarding role, will provide the opportunity to use your initiative, outstanding communication, coaching and interpersonal skills to build relationships with volunteers and other key stakeholders.

About you

Essential to the role is a qualification in canine behaviour and training and/or Vet Nursing, with a proven ability to train and educate adults as well as highly developed communication skills.

 

You will bring to this role:

  • High self-motivation and ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to contribute as a productive team member to our programs

 

Your confidence with both dogs and people will be invaluable, as will your knowledge and understanding of canine temperament, health and wellbeing and learning and developmental processes. You will have previous experience in canine training and a willingness to follow Guide Dogs SA/NT training best practice principles.

A current Driver’s License and National Police Clearance will be required.
